Slane is synonymous with the Rock & Pop Concerts that have been held in the natural amphitheatre at Slane Castle since Thin Lizzy and U2 first performed there in 1981.
For a full list of gigs see Wiki site here.
But a new Whiskey Distillery tastefully set within the old stables may yet bring a further legacy to Slane Castle.
Opened in 2017, Slane Distillery (website here) has the ability to produce all styles of Irish Whiskey; Single Grain, Single Malt, Single Pot Still and of course, Blended Irish Whiskey.
At present (January 2020) they offer a sourced Slane Whiskey Triple Casked Irish Whiskey Blend while their own stocks mature.
The project was completed with the help of Kentucky’s Brown Forman family who are the owners of Jack Daniel’s as well as many other famous brands. Website here.
Let Casks Away drive you to this stunning distillery on the banks of the River Boyne in County Meath, taste the whiskey and enjoy a meal in the historic 18th Century Castle itself.
