Rumours of an Irish Whiskey Distillery being built in the former abandoned factory site behind the majestic Hazelwood House in County Sligo have been circulating for a number of years.
What was a dream for software developer Mr Raethorne and his team is fast becoming a reality.
Three gorgeous copper pot stills are now in situ and will shortly be producing their own spirit.
In the meantime a trio of sourced releases are promised.
A 14 Year Old Single Malt finished in Oloroso and PX Sherry Casks is already available, and mighty fine it is too!
Packaged in an attractively labelled bottle featuring the instantly recognisable outline of the stunning Benbulben mountain which rises behind the distillery site itself, the whiskey is named Annacoona, after a hill top on the Benbulben range.
The other releases in the Athrú collection are also named after local Sligo hill tops of prominence featuring rich historical stories.
Athrú means change or transform in Irish.
Casks Away can’t wait to escort visitors to the recently transformed Hazelwood House featuring a shiny new Irish Whiskey Distillery as soon as it opens to the public.
